9 People Infected with DHF, Banyuwangi Malay Village in Fogging

Regional Events

BANYUWANGI- A total of 9 residents in Kampung Melayu Village, Banyuwangi District/Regency, were infected with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

Efforts to fumigate or fogging were also carried out to stop the spread of cases (DHF) in the area, Tuesday (8/3/2022).

The village head of Kampung Melayu Aris Krisnulfaridi said this fogging activity was in collaboration with the Banyuwangi Health Service through the Singotrunan Health Center.

Fogging targets people’s homes and yards that may become a breeding ground for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

“There are 9 of our residents who are infected with DHF, so local residents ask for fogging in coordination with the Health Service,” said Aris.

His party hopes that, with fogging efforts, the growth of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes can be suppressed, so that no more residents are infected with DHF.

“Hopefully this is the last one, in the future we can carry out community service together to eradicate mosquito nests,” concluded Lurah Aris.

Separately, the Head of the Banyuwangi Health Service (Dinkes), Amir Hidayat said that fogging efforts in the local area were coordinated by the Head of the Singotrunan Health Center.

“Some of the residents who are infected with dengue are still being treated at the hospital,” said Amir.

Amir said Banyuwangi is an endemic area for dengue fever. This means that every year there are cases of dengue fever. So, public awareness is needed.

The Health Office hopes that the community will not only rely on fogging as a step to eradicate DHF. People must get used to living a healthy life by keeping the environment clean.

“Especially doing the PSN Gertak (Mosquito Nest Eradication Simultaneous Movement) with the three M steps, namely draining, closing, and burying items that might become mosquito nests,” he pleaded.
