Freiburg im Breisgau (ots)

A passenger on the regional express near Freiburg im Breisgau was found smoking and without mouth and nose protection. Since he refused to stop smoking and refused to wear the MNS properly, the train attendant informed the federal police. When checking the personal details, it turned out that the man was wanted on an arrest warrant. He is now in custody.

Late on Monday evening (March 7th, 2022), the 53-year-old Polish national was found smoking in the regional express from Offenburg to Freiburg im Breisgau by a train attendant and without the required mouth and nose protection (MNS). Even after repeated requests, the drunk man did not follow the instructions to stop smoking and put on an MNS. The train attendant turned to the federal police, who received the 53-year-old when the train arrived at Freiburg Central Station. Since the man could not identify himself, his fingerprints were checked at the federal police station. It turned out that an arrest warrant against him was still to be executed. A court sentenced him to a fine of 80 euros for trespassing. However, since he never paid the requested amount and was also unable to pay it on the spot, he was arrested by the federal police and taken to a prison to serve the 8-day substitute prison sentence. Because the 53-year-old was also unable to produce a ticket for the train journey, investigations into fraudulently obtaining benefits were initiated against him.
