The number of Ukrainian refugees exceeded two million on Tuesday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said.

2,011,312 people, 1.2 million of whom have fled to Poland, have fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion began on February 24, UNHCR said.

On Monday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that more than 1.7 million refugees had fled Ukraine.

According to Filipino Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the number of refugees in Bosnia and Kosovo during the Balkan wars was “maybe two to three million, but in eight years”.

Although “other parts of the world have experienced this, it is the first time in Europe since World War II,” Grandi added.
