A 6th-grader in a Moscow school has been called to the police for arguing with a history teacher over the Ukrainian war, and has been warned that he will be taken to the district if he does not arrive, Novaya Gazeta reported.

Cyril, a sixth-grader whose mother has asked not to be published, said the teacher told children during class about Ukraine’s aggression against Russia and said allegations of Russian invasion of Ukraine and beatings of opponents of the war were “fake news” fabricated by Ukrainian and US experts. She called the Ukrainians Nazis, but the student did not agree with the teacher’s statement and spread the slogan “Glory to Ukraine!” After an hour.

The next day, Cyril was summoned to an interview with the staff of the juvenile inspectorate. In response, the mother wrote an application to remove her child from school because she “puts pressure on the child and creates unbearable conditions for her education” because of her political views.

The next day, when the child was alone, the police arrived. When Cyril refused to open the door, the police turned off the electricity in the apartment and left, leaving a subpoena under the door with a note stating that if he did not show up, the sixth grader would be taken to the station by force.

According to Novaya Gazeta, the student has Ukrainian roots and, according to his mother, “it hurts about what is happening between Russia and Ukraine.”
