VIVA – Samsung finally open up. The South Korean tech giant has just confirmed that hacker or hackers managed to steal internal company data and source code for Galaxy devices.
The data breach was first reported earlier this month, in which a hacker group called Lapsus$ claimed responsibility for the breach of Samsung’s data, according to the website. The VergeTuesday, March 8, 2022.
The hacker group that recently hacked Nvidia shared a screenshot purportedly showing around 200GB of data stolen, including the source code used by Samsung for encryption and to unlock biometrics on Galaxy hardware.
In a statement, Samsung did not confirm or deny the identity of the hackers or whether they had stolen data related to encryption and biometrics.
However, Samsung said no personal data, whether belonging to employees or customers, was taken.
“Indeed, there was a security breach regarding our internal data. According to the initial analysis, the breach involved some source code related to the operation of Galaxy devices. But it did not include the personal information of our consumers or employees,” said Samsung’s official statement.
The South Korean tech giant said that at this time they had not seen any impact on business or customers.
