Skating Bears strive for opening win against Rams

Krefeld Looks good, but it wasn’t: coach Fabian Peelen finds clear words after the 8:3 win against Rams Düsseldorf. He’s not happy at all with the reigning champions’ performance.
(RP) The restart was successful. For the first time since the 2021 final, Crefelder SC, the Skating Bears, played again. The Bundesliga skater hockey team lived up to their role as favorites against the ISC Düsseldorf Rams and won 8:3.

The hosts led 3-0 after the first period. It was a game without significant chances of Düsseldorf and corresponding Krefeld dominance. However, the Skating Bears then completely lost their thread. The Rams shortened to 1:3 and later even to 3:4. However, the reigning champion increased the lead to 5:3 before the break. In the last third, the picture was the same: The Skating Bears didn’t find their game, but thanks to individual class they were able to score three more goals. Coach Fabian Peelen found clear words: “We’ll take the three points and the championship lead with us. But with the performance, we won’t keep it for long. Today I saw weak Krefeld and even weaker Düsseldorf. We need a significant increase in performance to win in Augsburg.”
