Understanding the Solar System and its Composition

KOMPAS.com – Solar system consists of the stars, the Sun, and everything else bound to them by gravity, namely the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune; dwarf planets like Pluto; tens of months; and millions of asteroids, comets, and meteoroids.

Reported from NASA, outside solar system, there are more planets. So far, scientists have discovered thousands of planetary systems orbiting other stars in the Milky Way Galaxy, resulting in more planets being discovered.

Most of the hundreds of billions of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy are thought to have planets of their own.

The arrangement of celestial bodies that form a system with the sun as its center is called the solar system.

Reported from Encyclopedia Britannica, the sun is the center of the solar system which influences the motion of all other objects through its gravitational force and by itself contains more than 99 percent of the mass of the system.

The planets found in solar system is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

The four planets, Jupiter to Neptune, have ring systems, and all of them, except Mercury and Venus, have one or more moons.

In addition to the sun, planets, dwarf planets, and moons, the solar system also has asteroids, meteoroids, and comets.

Most of the several hundred thousand asteroids, or small planets, orbit between Mars and Jupiter in a nearly flat ring called the asteroid belt.

Then, there are asteroid fragments and other small pieces of solid matter that fill the interplanetary space called meteoroids to distinguish them from larger asteroid bodies.

Several billion comets of the solar system are found mainly in two different reservoirs.
