The EHC Red Bull Munich conceded its first defeat after five wins in a row at the Krefeld Pinguinen.
The guests from Munich started well and had the first dangerous shot by Ben Street after just 14 seconds. However, they could not capitalize on their slight superiority in the first third – it remained 0-0. Instead, the Krefeld Pinguins took the lead in the 23rd minute through Lucas Lessio. Andrew O’Brien equalized six minutes later, and Zach Redmond gave Oberbayern the lead in front of almost 2,000 spectators.
Sabolic decided in the penalty shootout in favor of the home side
In the 54th minute, Krefeld’s Eduard Lewand equalized, which sent both teams into a penalty shoot-out, which the home side won thanks to Robert Sabolic.
“We made the game for long stretches. In the end, it was crucial that we left Krefeld in the game for too long.” EHC Munich player Frank Mauer
