Hockey – NHL: Second straight loss for Draisaitl and Oilers – Sports

Edmonton (dpa) – The German ice hockey professional Leon Draisaitl went off the ice with the Edmonton Oilers in the second game in a row as a loser. The Oilers suffered a 5-2 (1-2, 1-1, 0-2) home loss in the NHL to the weakest team in the Eastern Conference, the Montreal Canadiens.

Draisaitl was there with an assist in the 1-1 equalization in the first third. Germany’s athlete of the year 2020 with 79 points in the scorer list caught up with teammate Connor McDavid, both of whom now share first place. The Oilers conceded two hits in the final half.

Tim Stützle and the Ottawa Senators had to admit defeat to the Arizona Coyotes 5:8 (0:2, 3:2, 2:4) despite a furious race to catch up. The Senators trailed 4-0 midway through the second period and then scored five goals in a row. Stützle was directly involved in two goals, which the 20-year-old managed for the second time this season. But the Coyotes scored four goals in a row in the final period. Arizona’s Nick Schmaltz boasted two goals and five assists. For the first time in a decade, a player in the NHL scored seven points in a game.

Thomas Greiss and Moritz Seider also suffered a defeat with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday: the German duo lost 2:6 (1:3, 0:3, 1:0) to the Florida Panthers. After Greiss conceded the fifth goal in the middle period, the goalie made room for Alex Nedeljkovic in the goal.
