Samsung does not deny that it is holding back the performance of its mobile phones

Samsung has been in the spotlight the other day with some very unpleasant news, as it is said the performance of thousands of applications has been held back on some of the devices they manufacture, with the keyword game optimization. The company partially acknowledged the allegations, but said they only took advantage of this option for games, not slowing down normal apps. In any case, they promised a solution to the phenomenon, in the form of an update.

As we wrote earlier, a list of 10,000 applications has been uploaded to the World Wide Web, claiming that the performance of these applications is being held back by the Game Optimizing Service (GOS) service developed by Samsung. The company confirmed the existence of the phenomenonbut only for games:

Our primary goal is to provide the best mobile experience for consumers. The Game Optimizing Service (GOS) is designed to give gaming applications great performance while effectively managing device temperature. GOS does not handle the performance of non-player applications. We appreciate your feedback on our products, and after careful consideration, we plan to introduce a software update soon to allow users to control performance while running gaming applications.

The company will soon make an update available to resolve complaints that will allow users to exercise a performance priority option. In other words, Samsung will allow users to squeeze as much out of the hardware as possible. Let us hope that this opportunity will come to all affected devices.

It is worth noting, however, that the company did not address the fact at all that benchmark applications were not affected by this software barrier. The exclusion of synthetic tests from this questionable optimization meant (or means) that phone owners were given a much different picture of the mobile capabilities they possessed.
