Society. History of women’s rights: a collective challenged passers-by with a game

The collective for gender equality 12 has invited itself to

the Saint-Etienne crossroads, yesterday, to raise awareness among passers-by.

The latter were able to lend themselves to a game of cards to put

testing their general knowledge. Those who approached out of curiosity could draw a question from the deck of cards specially created by the collective. “When do women have

had the right to vote?”, “since when does the Pacs exist?”,

“Since when can women freely dispose of their salaries?”… To answer these questions, passers-by were confronted with a chronological timeline starting in the 15th century

and stretching to the present day on a very long table. It was therefore necessary to place the card on the right date. Fortunately, the collective was there to lend a hand. “I have my notebook where all the answers are noted”, admits Marie-Françoise Larnaudie with a big smile, while the package included more

of about fifty cards and questions. This action was important for the collective, because “women are not fragile, but their rights are”, even today.

The collective will be back in Rodez on March 8, on the occasion

international women’s rights day,

to gather from 12:30 p.m. in front of the prefecture.

At the same time, a demonstration will be planned in Millau,

and it will continue at 5:30 p.m. in Villefranche-de-Rouergue.ND
