KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The scarcity of cooking oil that has occurred recently has become a common sight in various regions. The wealthy businessman from South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) Andi Syamsudin Arsyad alias Haji Isam did not remain silent in responding to the situation.
PT Jhonlin Group, the group of companies he owns, through the business unit PT Jhonlin Agro Raya (JAR) Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, built a cooking oil factory with a capacity of 160 tons per day (tons per day / TPD).
According to the Director of PT JAR Zafrinal, the cooking oil factory owned by a subsidiary of Jhonlin Group in Sungai Dua, Batulicin will produce premium cooking oil in 1 liter and 2 liter packages.

The price is affordable for the general public. The construction of the factory, which is being carried out by PT Wijaya Karya Rekayasa Konstruksi, from July 29, 2021, is targeted for completion on July 29, 2022.
“This cooking oil factory is a fraction of a refinery factory which will process 250 tons of raw materials per day and be able to produce 160 tons of cooking oil per day,” he said in a written statement, Saturday (5/3).
According to Zafrinal, currently the construction project absorbs a workforce of up to 250 local residents, and later when it operates, the factory with a digital operating system will absorb 60 operational personnel.
“If the factory operates, it will certainly create new jobs and the plan is to absorb 80 percent of the local workforce,” he added.
In addition to creating new jobs, he said, the construction of the cooking oil factory is also a manifestation of the company’s concern for the current shortage of cooking oil.
The existence of a cooking oil factory in South Kalimantan is expected to help improve the economy from upstream to downstream in the palm oil agro-industry, considering that the cooking oil market is very potential where demand continues to increase every year.
In addition, he said, the community also needs quality cooking oil at competitive prices.
“JAR’s long-term target is to fulfill capacity and expand production capacity, as well as downstream CPO products with quality products. The hope is to produce quality cooking oil products that are affordable by the community,” said Zafrinal.

GM PT JAR Mathirlan Romadhoni said the new factory’s production target will be realized in stages, starting from 50 tons per day until it reaches a maximum capacity of 160 tons per day.
“The packaging produced is 0.5 liter, 1 liter and 2 liter packages to meet people’s purchasing power, considering the 0.5 liter, 1 liter and 2 liter markets are quite large,” he said.
According to him, the marketing area in the early stages was prioritized for the needs of the people of South Kalimantan, although it did not rule out the possibility that it would expand to other provinces on the island of Kalimantan.
“The advantage of JAR cooking oil is that it is processed from its own palm oil plantations and has premium quality so that the price will be competitive and affordable,” he added.
