Palace Calls Postponement of Election Political Gossip, Faldo Maldini: Is this what Jokowi wants or not?

MANADOPOST.ID– The palace dismissed the issue that the proposed postponement of the 2024 election originated or at least had the knowledge of President Joko Widodo.

The Special Staff of the Minister of State Secretary Faldo Maldini stated that without valid evidence, the issue would become political gossip. “It’s a bit dangerous if political gossip is turned into the truth,” he said yesterday (4/3).

The first pitcher of the discourse on postponing the election to the public on the grounds of absorbing people’s aspirations was the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar. Then followed by the chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto and the chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan.

On the other hand, Jokowi’s main party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), actually rejected the proposal. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto even poked fun at Jokowi’s inner circle for not understanding the president’s wishes.

Before the issue of postponing the election, the issue of Jokowi was re-nominated for a third term. However, on several previous occasions, Jokowi has stated that he rejects the discourse.

According to Faldo, President Jokowi is focusing on working with the public and pursuing the government’s performance targets. “Is this (the postponement of the election) what Jokowi wants or not? If it’s measured, the government doesn’t have time to talk about this,” he said in the Total Politics Community discussion.

Therefore, he asked that the issue no longer drag Jokowi’s name. Regarding why the former governor of Jakarta never gave a statement, Aldo stated that the approach taken was not a character approach. So, the figure in question, in this case Jokowi, doesn’t have to talk. “I don’t agree with the President appearing and commenting on this. Yes, we continue to monitor it,” he explained.((lyn/tyo/mia/c19/ttg/jawapos))
