Caracas, March 3 (EFE) .- The Venezuelan authorities detected 181 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 179 due to community transmission and 2 imported, the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, reported this Thursday.
“The Presidential Commission for the Prevention, Care and Control of covid reports that in the last few hours 181 new infections were detected in Venezuela: 179 cases due to community transmission and 2 imported,” Rodríguez wrote on his Twitter account.
Regarding the imported cases, there are two patients from Panama.
The region with the most cases was Zulia with 91, followed by Miranda with 29, Anzoátegui with 14 and Caracas with 11.
The states with the fewest cases were Lara and Sucre with 9, Yaracuy with 7, Táchira with 4, La Guaira with 2, Guárico, Falcón and Portuguesa with 1.
In this way, Venezuela has reached 515,943 infections since the start of the pandemic, although 504,626 patients have recovered, leaving only 5,674 active cases.
On the other hand, Rodríguez reported that in the last 24 hours two more people died from covid-19 in Monagas and Zulia, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 5,643.
On Monday, President Nicolás Maduro assured at the opening of the 49th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, in Geneva, that Venezuela is among the countries with “the best performance in combating the coronavirus.”
“A multilateral effort and real political will is needed to defend human life over pharmaceutical profits,” he said.
He reiterated that the Caribbean country reached the goal of 102% of citizens over 18 years of age vaccinated with the “full dose” against covid-19, although in this scenario he did not explain why the percentage exceeds the total by 2%. of the older population.
However, data from the World Health Organization, updated as of February 18, indicates that 14,966,671 Venezuelan citizens have been vaccinated with two doses of the covid-19 vaccine, which is equivalent to 49.8% of people with the full pattern. EFE
