A 29-year-old man from Rotterdam died on Friday afternoon in an accident on the A17, the police reported. The driver drove his car on the back of a truck, which happened just before half past five. The road will be closed until at least 10:30 p.m.
The accident happened in the direction of traffic from Roosendaal to Dordrecht. An air ambulance was called in vain, the driver of the car died shortly after the accident.
Two accidents
The man was alone in the car and the truck driver was uninjured. Police are investigating how the accident could have happened.
The accident was the second accident in half an hour on the A17 in that direction. Just before five o’clock on Friday afternoon, an accident took place near Zevenbergen. Shortly after the road was reopened, the accident took place at the Noordhoek junction, just before half past five.

The ANWB reports that the road will remain closed until 22.30 in any case. You can detour via Breda (A58, A16).
