  • “We are determined, we are determined, we are united,” the head of the European Commission said at a joint news conference in Brussels with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Ursula von der Leyen said that although significant sanctions have been imposed on Russia by the EU, the US, Norway, Switzerland, Australia and South Korea, things will not stop there.

  • “The bombings on Ukraine are becoming more intense. The EU and the US will continue to support Ukraine.
  • We are very concerned about the acceleration of the humanitarian crisis. There is destruction that has not been seen since the last century. We have prepared an immediate aid of 500 million euros and other amounts will follow.
  • We are doing everything we can, together with humanitarian organizations, to ensure humanitarian color, because civilians must be able to get out of the siege.
  • The conflict is far from over, and we are ready to take further tough action against Russia if Putin does not stop there, “said Ursula von der Leyen.

According to her, the European Union is determined to make Russian President Vladimir Putin “pay a price”.

Ursula von der Leyen also said that severe sanctions against Russia were possible due to close cooperation with the United States.

Antony Blinken: We need to keep up the pressure on Russia until it stops

For his part, the head of US diplomacy, Antony Blinken, said that the United States and the European Union must maintain pressure on Russia to stop the war.

“Unfortunately, this conflict in Ukraine may not end immediately. It is tragic, it is horrible. We must keep up the pressure on Russia until it stops, until the war ends.”
