Firm Actions by Jasa Marga for Extortion of Towing Services from Officers

Jasa Marga take firm action against towing officers on the Jagorawi Toll Road. The officer was fired for committing wild collection (extortion) to motorists by setting a tariff that is not in accordance with the official towing service rate.

Summarized detik.com, Friday (4/3/2022), the incident of crane officers committing extortion to motorists was revealed after going viral on social media. The officer was said to have initially asked motorists for a fare of Rp. 1 million, then it was reduced to Rp. 500 thousand.

“My car broke down on the toll road, an official towing service immediately shot 1 million, then it went down to 500 thousand even though the official rate was that much (showing the official towing rate),” tweeted the @dik***** account on Twitter.

In response to the complaint, PT Jasa Marga together with PT Jasa Marga Tollroad Operator (JMTO) as the service provider The Jagorawi Toll Road has issued a warning letter to the crane service provider on the toll road section and has received a commitment so that similar incidents do not happen again. Jasa Marga has also requested that the crane officer be fired and has been approved by the crane service provider.

“We also do not tolerate the actions of the crane officers involved, so we ask the crane service provider to give strict sanctions to their employees in the form of termination of employment (PHK) which has now been fulfilled by the crane service provider,” said Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head PT. Jasa Marga, Dwimawan Heru, in a written statement, Thursday (3/3).

PT Jasa Marga provides towing services for vehicles with problems on toll roads. Road users can request towing to the officers if needed.

“The free towing service procedure provided by Jasa Marga is if road users who experience travel disturbances/traffic accidents are towed from the point of occurrence to the nearest toll gate, tow pool, or other place within a 1 kilometer radius of the nearest toll road exit access. However, if road users requesting towing services with the desired destination by road users other than those mentioned above, will be charged a tariff in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.
