Belarus’s authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko has categorically denied his involvement in the war against Ukraine on Friday.

“The Belarusian army is not participating in the special operation and does not intend to do so,” Lukashenko told state media, calling the Russian invasion the Kremlin’s favorite words. “There is no such need.”

There has been no request for Belarus to participate, the dictator said.

At the same time, he stressed that the border with Ukraine will be strengthened.

Lukashenko has allowed Moscow to use Belarusian territory as a bridgehead from which Russian troops can launch an attack on Ukraine.

Russian helicopters, planes and missiles stationed in Belarus are being used to strike Ukraine.
