Trump: Investigative committee wants him not to compete in 2024

This Thursday the former president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, assured that “the real conspiracy” in the country was that the Democrats rigged the 2020 elections and that the only objective of the committee investigating the assault on Capitol Hill is to prevent him stand for election in 2024 if he so decides.

Trump thus responded to a judicial document from that Congressional Committee in which it is stated that he and one of his legal advisers, John Eastman, participated in a “criminal conspiracy” to reverse the result of the 2020 presidential elections.

The committee’s investigators point to two possible crimes in that document: conspiracy to defraud the US and obstruction of an official congressional process.

“Few things could be more fraudulent or run into more irregularities than the 2020 presidential election,” Trump said in a statement released a day after the committee document was released.

The former president mentions as proof of his assertion that “this week the special prosecutor in Wisconsin requested the decertification of the 2020 elections due to massive illegality” and assures that “this is true in many other states, especially in swing states”, including Arizona and Georgia.

“The evidence is monumental, but the Committee, formed, according to him, by “political partisans”, “hides the facts”.

He also took aim at US Supreme Court justices, who he said are “afraid to even look,” as was then-Attorney General William Barr.

“He was so petrified to be snubbed or accused by Democrats, who constantly threatened to do so, that he was pretty much a broken man who allowed the systemic violation of election laws and other things to take place,” he added.

According to Trump, the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021 occurred “because millions of people in our country know that the election was rigged and stolen.”

The assailants had participated precisely in a rally in Washington in which Trump repeated that he was the true winner of the elections and urged them to fight to defend his “victory”.

The statement says he asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi three days earlier, without explaining why, to station more than 10,000 requested troops on Capitol Hill, but she refused because she didn’t like “the look.” .

The sole objective of the Committee is: “to try to prevent President Trump, who leads by wide margins in all the polls, from running for president again, if I so choose.”

“In doing so, they are destroying democracy as we know it. Your Marxist lies and tactics against political opponents will not stop the truth, or the largest political movement, Make America Great Again/America First, in the history of our country,” he added.

At the end of the statement he refers to the war in Ukraine and repeats that “it would never have happened” if he was still in the White House, something he has been saying since before the Russian invasion.
