The Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) confiscated and cracked down on coffee products containing medicinal ingredients. BPOM found a number of coffee products containing sildenafil and paracetamol.
“Coffee ingredients contain medicinal chemicals, namely sildenafil and paracetamol,” explained the Head of BPOM RI Penny K Lukito at a press conference Friday (4/2/2022).
Sildenafil is used to treat men with erectile dysfunction or impotence. This product is also known by the trade name ‘Viagra’, which is used to increase blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation to increase erection.
Penny explained that the risk of experiencing heart, liver, to cancer and even death lurks someone who consumes coffee mixed with this mighty drug.
“In a short time the risk is very large associated with health aspects. Heart problems, liver disorders, heart rhythm pain, this also has an effect on the reproductive organs, whoever consumes this. Then also other disorders can even cause death, cancer is also possible, ” ” said Penny.
