The two star footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are expanding with their hotel companies. Ronaldo has brought the Portuguese chain Pestana on board as a partner and founded the joint venture CR7 Pestana. The first two houses opened in 2016 in Madeira, where Ronaldo was born, and in Lisbon, his first professional stop. Ronaldo played for Real Madrid for a long time, so there has recently been hotel number three there: The Pestana CR7 Gran Via Madrid is located on the shopping street of the same name and offers 164 rooms. There will be a penthouse for the world footballer on the top floor.
For domiciles four and five, he has chosen two trendy cities, New York and Marrakech. The Pestana CR7 Times Square, a new building near the famous square, is already welcoming its first guests. The 174-room Pestana CR7 Marrakesh will follow in the next few weeks.
Messi-Hotels in Spanien
While Ronaldo is active worldwide, Lionel Messi has so far stayed in Spain, where he has spent more than half of his life. In April he plans to open the fifth hotel in his Mim Hotels group, which is managed by the Majestic Hotel Group.
The Mim Sotogrande Club Maritimo is located in the resort of the same name in Andalusia and offers 45 loft-like rooms, two restaurants, a pool and a spa and fitness area. The small group includes Mim Ibiza Es Vive near Ibiza Town, Mim Mallorca near Sa Coma and Mim Baqueira in the Spanish Pyrenees – and Mim Sitges near Barcelona. Due to violations of building regulations, it will probably have to be demolished. A hotel in Andorra is also planned.
