The Russian army in Ukraine fired on the Zaporizhia NPP and a fire broke out there, Dmitro Orlov, the mayor of Enerhodara, announced on his Telegram channel on Friday morning.

It was previously reported that fierce fighting between the Russian army and the Ukrainian armed forces, which protects Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, had been going on for more than an hour at the Zaporizhia NPP.
“A threat to world security. The enemy has ignited the Zaporizhia NPP by continuously firing on Europe’s largest NPP buildings and power units!” announced Orlov.
Russian troops invading Ukraine approached the town of Enerhodara in the Zaporozhye region, home to the Zaporizhia NPP, on Wednesday. Residents confronted the enemy, who did not allow him into the city.
Mayor Orlov said on Thursday that a column of more than 100 Russian heavy machinery units was approaching the city. He later added that a battle was taking place in a block post in the city, enemy shells had hit residential buildings and a fire had broken out in one of them, and civilians were injured.
On Thursday evening, it was reported that a column of enemy equipment had headed for the Zaporizhia NPP.
