Today, everything is digital! Also in the field of health. Digital is increasingly present, especially via making appointments online and the generalization of teleconsultation when possible. This phenomenon was of course accelerated by the health crisis.
After a test phase in three departments (Haute-Garonne, Loire-Atlantique, Somme), My health space was launched on February 3, 2022 throughout France. It’s a space digital, personal and secure to bring together all of a person’s health data. Its objective is twofold: to enable individuals to be actors in their health and to facilitate its monitoring by health professionals.
My health space is not the first digital health device tested in France. The Personal Medical Record was launched in 2004, then was replaced by the Shared Medical Record in 2016, the latter did not meet with the expected success. This is why the model has been reviewed and improved. From now on, health professionals are not the only ones to be able to feed the medical file: the patient also has control and can add or hide documents. If you had a shared medical file, like ten million French people, the data therein was automatically integrated into your health space.
Why a digital space?
My health space allows policyholders to store and consult all the data related to their health: prescriptions, results of biological analyses, images and imaging reports, history of reimbursements, certificates of vaccination, tests covid, hospitalization reports, etc. The patient can upload the documents he wishes to his file himself or authorize health professionals to add to his file as his treatment progresses. The user also has the possibility of completing his personal profile to provide information on possible allergies, for example, or communicate his advance directives. It is a true digital health record.
My health space makes it possible to limit the loss of health documents or the forgetting of these by patients during the medical consultation. For example, this can prevent an analysis from being prescribed and carried out only because the results of the previous one are not known to the healthcare professional. My health space also facilitates coordination between healthcare professionals by sharing documents. Other services will be gradually integrated into my health space: an Abbreviation: messaging
English: message handling, electronic mail.” data-url=”https://www.futura-sciences.com/tech/definitions/internet-messagerie-electronique-3930/” data-more=”Read the definition”>emaila medical diary, and other digital services.
Is this space sufficiently secure?
The fear of health data theft or breach of medical secrecy is perfectly legitimate. Many companies would certainly be interested in possessing this type of information: insurance companies, employers, banks… The site ameli.fr assures that ” My health space is a trusted digital service “, what ” this new service guarantees its users the protection of their health data and the preservation of medical secrecy » and finally that « the confidentiality information from the medical record is fully guaranteed “. The data is hosted on servers located in France.
