Exactly three weeks ago, in addition to the new Galaxy S22 series, Samsung launched three new tablets in the S8 series, which replace the critically acclaimed Galaxy Tab S7 series where we have, among other things, tested Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+.
With the new Tab S8 series, Samsung launched for the first time an Ultra version, which we have just seen in “live” for the first time at Mobile World Congress.
The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has a 14.6-inch screen, which makes it larger than most laptops, and has WQXGA + resolution (2960 x 1848 pixels). The screen is of the S-AMOLED type with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Just like the new mobiles, the tablet is made of armor aluminium. It is only 5.5 mm thick, which makes it so ultra-thin that you can almost cut it.
All the glory is powered by Android 12 and Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 processor.
The battery is 11200 mAh and in addition to fast charging (up to 45 W), the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra also supports the ability to function as a kind of powerbank so that you can use the tablet to fast charge a Samsung Galaxy S22 mobile via USB.
Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has two camera lenses on both the front and back (13 Mp + 6 Mp ultra-wide angle on the back, 12 Mp + 12 Mp ultra-wide angle on the front), and is available in different configurations with 8, 12 or 16 GB RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of built-in storage that can be expanded by up to an additional 1 TB via microSD card.
In this video you can see Niclas Juul from Samsung in Denmark show us the tablet and explain more about some of its new features, including the integration of Samsung DeX.
Price and availability
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is already in store. The largest version with 5G and 16 GB RAM / 512 GB memory costs SEK 17,500.
