Roam is the smallest portable speaker from Sonos, but now it actually gets a little brother – Sonos Roam SL!
Sonos Roam SL: Without microphone
In this case, little brother is exactly the same size, and has much of the same functionality as the original – including the ability to play wireless music via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Thus, this is a nice gadget that is easy to take around the house, or out for a walk.
Roam SL is also IP68 certified, which means that it is both dust and waterproof. Sonos promises 10 hours of battery life when in constant use, and up to 10 days of sleep. For longer battery life, battery saving can be turned on, then the speaker turns off completely when not in use.

The main difference between the Roam SL and the original is that Sonos has removed the integrated microphone. Thus, the SL version will not function as a stand-alone smart speaker with voice control, and also loses the ability to adapt the sound reproduction to the environment it is in. The sound must instead be adjusted manually with the EQ in the Sonos app. Apart from this, the acoustic specifications should be the same. The speaker can also be connected in stereo pairs with an additional Roam SL, or Roam via WiFi.
Price and availability
Sonos Roam SL will cost 1799 kroner, 200 kroner less than regular Roam. Wireless charging dock is optional for NOK 499. Roam SL lands in stores on March 15, but can be pre-ordered now. It will be available in black and white.
