3 percent of vans sold in the EU are electrically powered, in Belgium 1 percent | drive

Diesel vans thus remain the most popular by more than a street length: in Belgium they accounted for 93 percent of vans sold in 2021, compared to 4.8 percent for petrol and 1 percent for alternative fuels. Sales of the number of diesel and petrol vans in our country remained virtually stable last year.

Across the European Union, that distribution is 90.2 percent diesel, 3.8 percent petrol, 3 percent electric and 1.4 percent alternative. The remaining one and a half percent is for hybrid vans. Virtually none of these were sold in our country.

Across the EU, all categories improved, from a total of 1.44 million units sold in 2020 to 1.56 million last year.
