One of the most epic moments in the final group stage of the UEFA Champions League was Sheriff Tirapol’s 2-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid. A game that will be remembered in the club’s history as its first victory in the competition.
This Monday it was learned that the club’s coach, the Ukrainian Yuriy Vernydub, joined the army of his country to defend it in the current war against Russia. The 56-year-old coach decided to go under the orders of the Ukrainian militia, as other public figures in this country have done.
The president of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenski had asked all the civilians of this country to join the armed forces to fight in the war they are carrying out against Russian troops, and the Tirapol Sheriff’s technician responded to the call.
Through his social networks, the Ukrainian technician recorded that he joined the army of his country, with an image in which he can be seen informed like any other person in the armed forces.
“I was born in Ukraine, I live in Ukraine and I want to give a few words of support to the Ukrainians, who suffered from the Russian attack. I am proud of the people who are defending, I am not afraid of their strength and health, they give people the possibility to sleep in peace,” said the technician.
