Poll Car of the Year 2022 knows its winner, who becomes a Kia EV6 after a thrilling duel
–
The winner of the European Car of the Year 2022 poll, after a thrilling duel, was the Kia EV6 electric car, which beat the purely electric Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric by 14 points. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric car, which shares technology with the winning Kia, finished in third place with a difference of only four points.
This year’s Car of The Year survey was held mainly in the spirit of electric cars, as only one car with an internal combustion engine reached the final seven. This was the Peugeot 308, which ended up in fourth place with a relatively significant difference. The Škoda Enyaq iV finished in fifth place.

The voting process was quite exciting and Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric remained in the lead for a long time. Gradually, the first three separated from the rest, and by the end, the predominance of the Kia electric car, which won over journalists from several countries – including the Czech Republic – became increasingly clear.
The winner of this year’s COTY poll, which has been running without interruption since 1963, was decided by a jury of 60 motoring journalists from 23 Western and Central European countries. The Czechia has had one representative on the jury since 1993, which has been Jiří Duchoň since 2016.

As in the previous year, the survey was announced online on the Geneva Motor Show website. The announcement of the European Car of the Year poll used to be part of the Geneva Motor Show GIMS, but its last years were canceled due to coronavirus restrictions this year due to declining interest from exhibitors.
However, unless an exceptional situation arises, the traditional Geneva Motor Show should return to the Palexpo Exhibition Center as early as next year.
