Algeria’s state gas company is ready to supply additional gas to the European Union. If the Russian gas supply were to stop, Algeria could draw on its own gas supplies, the chief of the company said.
The Italian foreign minister was in Algeria yesterday to discuss additional gas supplies. “The visit had a positive outcome. Algeria will support Italy in the gas deliveries,” Minister Di Maio told the Italian channel Rai afterwards.
GroenLinks leader Klaver argued in a parliamentary debate yesterday for a boycott of Russian gas. According to Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs, this should be done at a European level and he will discuss it with other member states. He thinks that countries such as Germany and Italy would be more affected by this than the Netherlands, because they are more dependent on Russian gas.
