OPPO claims to be able to fully charge smartphone with 240W in 9 minutes – Tablets and phones – News

There are also people who regularly do not save a day with one battery charge. Then after just two years you are already at 600 cycles. You can add a year to that, but if a battery is worn out within three years, then I think the life of the phone is actually too short. Certainly a top model should be able to last five years. Replacing the battery after three years is of course a possibility, but in practice nobody does that. Most devices are no longer worth that.

If I look at my own usage, my phone still has an average of 15% rubbish in the evenings, but there are also days when I have to charge extra. Hardly anyone does charging to 80% and that is not necessary at all for the current batteries. You can simply charge it up to at least 95%, without it accelerating the degeneration.
When charging with higher currents, the cathode is damaged, making it less effective. Previously, this could (in theory) also occur in the last 20%, but in practice we do not actually see that.
We use a lot of batteries and the lifespan is important to us. That is why we test a number of batteries from each batch, where they are charged and discharged 1000 times (5 to 100%). We do this at three current strengths (10, 20 and 50 watts). The best batteries reach 1000 charges with the lowest currents, but with 50 watts charging, those between 400 and 600 charges also fall below the 80% limit. Partly with that background, I do not think that the 600 cycles will be achieved and that the battery will completely give up after 300 cycles. As you calculate, you are indeed at a good year old and you can no longer do anything with the empty promise of 1600 charging cycles, but you can have the battery replaced at your own expense.
