Leipzig/Dresden – The trade union ver.di has announced strikes at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports for this Tuesday (March 1). In Leipzig, the employees of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG and its subsidiaries are to stop working from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. All areas – except for security – are affected. In Dresden there is a protest action at lunchtime.
Vacationers and business travelers who have already booked must therefore now tremble. Nine passenger planes are affected in Leipzig/Halle. “There won’t be much more,” announced ver.di spokesman Paul Schmidt (34). The vast majority of the 1,500 employees at Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG work at Leipzig/Halle Airport. “We expect a high level of strike participation.”
Nine flights are planned to and from Hurghada (Egypt), Fuerteventura, Antalya (Turkey), Paris-Orly, Frankfurt and Munich. There will probably be no restrictions on the eight machines in Dresden – including London, Düsseldorf, Cologne-Bonn and Frankfurt.

“Travellers should contact their airline,” advises airport spokesman Uwe Schuhart (46).
Ver.di is demanding six percent more wages for employees this year. The employer offer is not much lower, but will only be paid in two stages from 2023. In addition, a previously agreed job security should be continued.
Ver.di spokesman Paul Schmidt: “The proposed salary increases come much too late. As a result, 30 months would have passed since the last salary increase. That is unacceptable, especially in view of the current price development.”
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for Friday in Leipzig.
