Pia Frankenberg’s comedy is a Hamburg film that probably no one really has in mind, but which is a real (new) discovery Burning Beds from 1988. Frankenberg not only took over the direction, but also the leading role. In it she plays a woman who breaks up with her boyfriend and then has to find a new apartment. To get them, she uses all sorts of tricks. When she meets the disabled Englishman Harry (Ian Dury) in the queue, she introduces him to the apartment inspection as her barren husband – and then gets the apartment. Harry then demands at least one room, and he gets it. Only: Harry is a pyromaniac. A really very charming little comedy that is simply fun and lives in particular through the interaction of the two nonsensical characters.
