Japan will impose sanctions on Alexander Lukashenko and the Central Bank of Russia

Russia’s armed forces are also attacking Ukraine from Belarus, and Belarus has supported the aggression but has not yet been directly involved in the war. But a senior US intelligence official has warned that Belarus could join Russia’s attack on Ukraine on Monday.

“Given Belarus’ apparent involvement in the aggression, we will impose sanctions on President Lukashenko and other individuals and organizations and introduce export controls,” Kisida said after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“In order to promote the viability of financial sanctions against Russia in the international community, we have decided to impose sanctions to restrict transactions with the Central Bank of Russia,” Kisida added.
