Two names are associated with the post
Who will be the new Minister of Defense? Assumptions about this hour revolve around two names – Velizar Shalamanov and Todor Tagarev. What they have in common is that the two are former caretaker defense ministers in Rosen Plevneliev’s cabinets.
Shalamanov explained to NOVA that he is not wanted for the post and is currently outside the capital. Todor Tagarev commented that he neither confirms nor denies the information, but it is very likely that he is.
The interesting point in his biography is that in 2016 he headed the Institute of Defense, but only 12 months later he was released by the then caretaker Minister of War Stefan Yanev. Now, years later, it is possible that Tagarev will replace Yanev in the Ministry of Defense.
