On Sunday, a plane of the Russian airline Aeroflot, flying from Moscow to New York, was forced to turn around over the Atlantic Ocean and return to Sheremetyevo Airport.
The Boeing 777-3M0(ER), tail number VP-BHA, is registered in Bermuda. This may mean that it is owned by the leasing company and not by the air carrier.
The Russian media have already begun to report cases of bans on the part of lessors for the further operation of aircraft.
So, the plane of the Pobeda airline (part of the Aeroflot group), which was supposed to fly on the route Istanbul (Turkey) – Mineralnye Vody (Russia), could not take off. According to the Russian newspaper Vedomosti, citing its own sources, the Turkish aviation authorities banned the flight. This happened at the request of the lessor from Ireland, which owns the Boeing 737. In total, this company, whose name is not called, recalls three aircraft from the Victory fleet.
Recall that European Union closes airspace for all aircraft in Russia, including the aircraft of the oligarchs.
