JAKARTA (IndoTelko) – Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is estimated to sell as many as 60 million smartphones during 2013. In the prediction of the Strategy Analytics research institute during October-December 2013, smartphones made by Huawei managed to capture a global market share of 5.1%. Huawei now occupies the third position behind Samsung and Apple as the largest smartphone seller worldwide. These two smartphone manufacturers dominate the market at 35.2% and 13.4%, respectively. Throughout 2013, Huawei’s revenue from cell phone business pretty shiny. It is estimated that the contribution of this business unit will continue to grow from 22% in 2012 to 23% of Huawei’s total revenue in 2013.
Unfortunately, in the midst of skyrocketing product prestige, Huawei continues to face challenges in a number of countries. Finally, a number of British government offices are reportedly no longer using video conferencing equipment supplied by Huawei for security reasons.(ss)
