Valve CEO Gabe Newell has reportedly not abandoned the idea of extending the foundations of the Xbox’s successful service to Steam as well.

A PC Gamer conducted a lengthy interview with Steam’s father, Gabe Newell, on Friday, who said he sees the future in game subscription services, while also saying he doesn’t think it would be something the company should do itself.
There were rumors last April that Valve would accept Microsoft’s offer and the Game Pass would simply be placed on Steam, at which point Newell himself said in a statement. it’s a popular option you’d love to see on the platform.
Since then, negotiations may have stalled, though it may have had to do with Redmond’s acquisition of the Activision Blizzard consortium, the largest publisher in the gaming industry, through which they spent a lot of money, so they had to suspend deals for a while.
Of course, it should be added that Valve has not yet confirmed the release of either the Xbox Game Pass on Steam or implementation of a similar servicebut with the launch of the Steam Deck portable console, the situation could easily change, so it’s worth keeping an eye on what’s going on.
