Real Madrid have new candidate for midfield

Real Madrid are considering adding a new midfielder to their squad for next season. Enzo Fernandez expands the list of candidates.

After focusing on Aurelien Tchouameni (22, AS Monaco) and Ryan Gravenberch (19, Ajax Amsterdam) in recent weeks, a new potential signing has emerged for Real Madrid’s central midfield.

“Jose Angel Sanchez wants to persuade Florentino Perez to sign Enzo Fernandez, a River Plate player,” reveals journalist Pipi Estrada on El Chiringuito de Jugones.

Fernandez went through his entire football education in the youth of the top club from Buenos Aires. However, the 21-year-old first had to be loaned out to Defensa y Justicia for a season in order to develop the necessary skills in professional football. He is now set at River Plate.

The Argentinian junior national player convinces with his high workload, his ability to win balls and his good eye for his team-mates. Fernandez’ contract expires at the end of 2025 and was only renewed a few weeks ago.

“I’ve been at the club almost my whole life. I want to keep winning here, this is my home. I still have a lot of dreams that I want to fulfill at River, especially winning the Copa Libertadores,” said Fernandez. That doesn’t sound like goodbye.
