Benfica thrashed SC Braga this Friday, 5-0, in Loulé, and is in the semi-finals of the Futsal League Cup. The goals were scored by Rocha (5′), Arthur (9′), Afonso (20′), Jacaré (27′) and Robinho (32).
With a great first-half, the reds completely dominated the Minho team and went into halftime with a three-goal advantage. Rocha opened the scoring in the corner sequence, Arthur extended it after scoring with Chishkala, and Afonso Jesus scored close to the break, with assistance from the Brazilian, the best on the court. The result could even have been wider, if the eagles’ aim hadn’t bumped four times into the irons of Arsenal’s goal.
In the second half, Benfica managed, and even slowing down, they never lost control. SC Braga could have softened the numbers, but until the end it was the reds who increased by Jacaré and Robinho, with the captain of the eagles still hitting the bars, at a time when Benfica played in numerical advantage, by sending off Vítor Hugo Silva, due to accumulation of yellows.
This Saturday the semi-finals will be played: Sporting-Eléctrico (17:30) and Benfica-Futsal Azeméis (21:00).
