With Ralf Rangnick recently saying Manchester United need to sign a new striker, Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to his remarks has seemingly come to light.
Henry takes the pop from Ronaldo?
Earlier this month, the Red Devils caretaker boss said it was “obvious” the club needed to bolster their attack with a new striker at the end of the season.
With Edinson Cavani aged 35 and Ronaldo having recently turned 37, Rangnick feels it’s natural for United to sign a young striker ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Speaking recently on the situation of the 20-time English champions, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said that Ronaldo had no problem with the German’s suggestion and that his presence in the squad was “not not a problem” for the club.
“I was asking about Cristiano last week and the answer I got was that he has no plans to leave,” he said on FIVEthe podcast by Rio Ferdinand.
“He just fights for United. He doesn’t think about the captaincy, he thinks about the results. He wants to be part of the project.
“At the moment he is not jealous of the rumors around the signing of a new striker. They’re going to sign a new striker – 100%, Rangnick has already said that. They are already working on the market to see who might be the right player.
“They’re going to sign a new striker and Cristiano isn’t jealous – he knows Man United need another striker, even if he stays at the club this summer. At the moment Cristiano is not a problem and no problem for the club.”
Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in 29 games for United so far this season and has also assisted with three more strikes. Cavani, meanwhile, has only contributed three goals.
