Ukrainians residing in New York gathered in front of the Russian consulate to protest against Moscow’s military intervention in their country.
Angry protesters held up banners reading “Stop the war” and “Hands off Ukraine”.
Hundreds of Americans and Ukrainians also gathered in New York’s Times Square in protest against Putin’s intervention, where they chanted “Support Ukraine” and “End the intervention of Putin”.
At dawn on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a military operation in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine, followed by angry reactions from various countries around the world and many calls for tougher sanctions against Moscow.
