Of the 117 plots of a network distributed in the various French wine-growing areas, 70% had at least one vine contaminated by the Grapevine pinot gris virus (GPGV). This is revealed by a study carried out as part of the National Vineyard Dieback Plan (PNDV). Would we have underestimated the proliferation of this pathogen which can induce leaf distortion and stunting and transmitted by a mite? Without a doubt. It must be said that the GPGV expresses itself differently depending on the grape variety and that it was identified in plots showing no symptoms.
