Uturoa hospital “in pain” • TNTV Tahiti Nui Television

After the “ras le cocotier” of the autonomous unions, representatives of health personnel (CHPF, hospitals of Raiatea, the Marquesas, and Taravao and the Health Department), the unions of caregivers SPS-ILSV/CSTP-FO and SPHPF “alert the Raromatai population, following the major operational difficulties encountered within all the services of the Uturoa hospital”.

“Reduction in the number of hospital beds, deprogramming or postponement of surgical procedures as well as scheduled hospitalizations, and increase in patient transfers to the CHPF” : the hospital is suffering, and the Covid crisis has only made the situation worse. Understaffed, “the country has decided to recruit staff through competitive examinations”. A decision that the unions congratulate but which nevertheless deplore that “only
doctor positions will be entered in the competition. We do not accept this decision which we consider arbitrary and punitive! It is largely insufficient and does not meet all of the hospital’s needs. (…) It’s revolting !”
.

Unions demand that “the nine vacant nursing positions and the five laboratory technician positions are also registered”as well as “the creation of eight nursing posts, five nursing assistant posts and three laboratory technician posts. The replacement of practitioners must also be ensured during their absence, whatever their specialty” in order to be able to face a new Covid wave.
