The government extends the discount on Luxury Goods Value Added Tax (PPnBM) for LCGC and 1,500 cc cars that meet the requirements. A number of car brand holder agents (APM) enjoy regulations to lower the selling price of cars to stimulate consumers.
A number of APM suddenly cut the price of the latest car, but in fact the regulation still leaves a question mark, especially for some vehicle models in the Rp 200 million to Rp 250 million category.
In this category, only cars of that price range should be allowed to enjoy a 50 percent discount according to the Decree of the Minister of Industry Number 852 of 2022 concerning Motorized Vehicles with PPnBM on the Delivery of Taxable Goods which are classified as Luxury borne by the Government for the 2022 Fiscal Year.
In its application, it is unexpected, as is the case with products from Suzuki, namely the Ertiga Suzuki Sport. On the official Suzuki Indonesia website, it is stated that the price tag of the car is above Rp. 250 million, namely the Ertiga Suzuki Sport, the manual variant, which is known to be sold for Rp. 256.6 million, while the automatic version is Rp. 266.9 million.
This price should have been charged with PPnBM, but passed as a recipient of a 50 percent PPnBM discount which will be valid until March 2022.
Not only the Ertiga Suzuki Sport, the Ertiga model, the GX AT variant, which is sold for Rp. 256.4 million, has also passed, so according to the government, the government is entitled to a 50 percent PPnBM discount.
Next, the XL7, only two XL7 models should be entitled to a discount because the price is in the Rp200 million-Rp250 million range.
Because other variants of the XL7 are priced above IDR 250 million, starting from IDR 255.3 million – IDR 265.6 million. Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Industry’s regulations, there are four XL7 variants recorded and they receive a PPnBM discount.
Although not suitable in terms of price, these cars have local purchase up to above 80 percent, or as one of the conditions for automotive products to be able to enjoy PPnBM discounts in 2022. The Suzuki Suzuki Ertiga and XL7 should have collided in terms of price when implementing the PPnBM relaxation until March 2022.
Rudiansyah, Head of PR and Digital Strategic Planning Department of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) admitted that he has prepared an answer regarding tax breaks for the Suzuki Ertiga and XL7, and will be announced tomorrow.
“Tomorrow the maximum, the price will be informed,” said Rudiansyah.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry, who was asked for information, could not respond.
Car brands that don’t get the PPnBM discount this year
While Suzuki, with a number of its products, has passed the PPnBM discount for the Rp200 million-Rp250 million category, other brands don’t look like that.
The Toyota brand, for example, only gets a few variants for the Avanza and Veloz models because it doesn’t match in terms of price or the price tag is above IDR 250 million.
For Avanza, the variants that get PPnBM discounts are only 1.5 G MT, 1.3 E MT, and 1.3 E CVT. Meanwhile, none of the Veloz variants are included in the program to get a PPnBM discount.
“Yes, because of the price, if the local purchase is above 80 percent,” said Marketing Director of Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) Anton Jimmy.
