(lei) A 32-year-old woman died and a 54-year-old man was seriously injured in a serious traffic accident between a car and a van on Thursday afternoon on Landesstraße 3008. The 32-year-old, who was traveling in a Ford Ranger from Windecker Straße in the direction of Oberdorfelden, collided head-on with the oncoming van around 4.30 p.m. in a curve on the Kilianstädten bypass (extension of Bleichstraße). Any help came too late for the woman from Nidderau, she died at the scene of the accident. The 54-year-old van driver was initially trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by the fire department. He was flown to a nearby hospital by rescue helicopter with serious injuries.

According to initial information, the 32-year-old left her lane for unknown reasons and ran into oncoming traffic, where she collided with the van. An expert was called in to reconstruct the precise course of the accident and the cause. In this context, both vehicles (each a total loss) were seized by order of the Hanau public prosecutor’s office.

The amount of property damage is provisionally estimated at over 50,000 euros.

The road had to be closed for the duration of the rescue measures and the recording of the accident. The work at the scene of the accident and the full closure are still ongoing. Traffic is currently being diverted via Kilianstädten.
