Did the hockey players refuse to meet Heger and Čaputová?

“Our hockey players, who won historic bronze medals at the Beijing Olympics, refused to meet with current state officials who were already looking forward to the joint photos,” Erik Tomáš, a member of the non-parliamentary Hlas-SD, wrote on the social network. You can read his entire status in the gallery.

But he was not the only one. SNS chief Andrej Danko also joined him. “The bronze hockey players refused to meet with Čaputová, Heger and Kollár. From now on, they are golden boys for me,” wrote on social network. He also claims that his party can look the athletes in the eye because it has done a lot for the sport. The non-attached Member, Tomáš Taraba, expressed the same style and wrote that “No one has done as much to destroy sports in Slovakia as this government has done in the last two years.”

Is that really so?

Miroslav Šatan, who claims that due to time constraints it was not possible to visit all the places where the hockey players were invited, shed light on the whole thing. “Representatives have been invited here, but, unfortunately, more serious things are happening.” said Satan after coming from China.

After the arrival of the hockey players, President Zuzana Čaputová, Prime Minister Eduard Heger and Speaker Boris Kollár were at the Security Council to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “The Prime Minister congratulated the hockey players by phone and is proud of the success they have achieved for Slovakia.” claims Heger’s spokeswoman Ľubica Janíková. According to her, the prime minister was also invited to a lunch with the hockey players, but he could not attend.

Čaputová is interested

“The president is interested in meeting our successful Olympians and Paralympians. The reception will most likely take place after the Paralympic Games, “ said her spokesman Martin Strižinec.

The association originally invited politicians to have lunch with the players after their arrival in Bratislava. And although this lunch did not take place in the end, the union says they will be happy to meet with the highest constitutional officials.
