Facebook Reels also gives TikTok competition!

With this update, Facebook Reels can now be used worldwide, offering its users the option of create short video content in vertical format in the purest TikTok style.

The ad has been shared on the facebook-blog, explaining the details of the update. Going forward, Reels will be available in multiple areas of the official apps on both iOS and Android so that any video-related area within Facebook allows us to access Reels.

They will appear at the beginning of the users’ feed to gain prominence, being able to be added to Stories and even turn Stories into Reels. Soon they will also be available on Facebook Groups and Facebook Watchbecoming almost omnipresent throughout the Facebook platform, as they have also promised us a section that will come later with personalized suggestions.

“The short vertical videos of Instagram Reels extend to Facebook, and vice versa, as any ‘Reel’ created on Instagram will be able to be shared on Facebook and any ‘Reel’ posted on Facebook will also be able to be brought to Instagram.”

Facebook Reels is now available with monetization options

The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri has also spoken about the update, and has confirmed that on both platforms users will also start seeing ads in Reels to help creators monetize their work.

For now, creators in the United States, Canada, and Mexico can monetize their publicly shared Reels by signing up for Facebook’s in-stream ad program. Also, the test has been scheduled for the Stars in the Facebook Reels in the coming weeks, so people can buy and send Stars while watching the reels to support the creators. Both overlays and stars are designed so that as more people view and engage with Reels on Facebook, payouts to creators can increase.
