The midfielder of Atletico MadridJorge Resurrection ‘Koke’, suffers a muscle injury in his thigh, the rojiblanco club reported on Tuesday, so he will be absent for the first leg of the round of 16 Champions League against Manchester United on Wednesday.

“Our captain, after finishing the last game against Osasuna with discomfort, has undergone medical tests in recent days that have ruled that he suffers from a muscle injury in his thigh,” Atlético reported in a statement.
–
The club does not specify the time off, limiting itself to stating that “the evolution is pending.”
The Spanish international has featured in Atlético’s last 27 Champions League games. He had not missed a Champions League match since November 6, 2018 against Dortmund at the Metropolitano stadium.
The rojiblanco N.6, despite not being at his best, is a central piece of Diego Simeone’s system, who could opt for Héctor Herrera to replace Koke in midfield against United.
