According to Soha’s report, Vietnam only has nine players ahead of facing Timor Leste on Thursday (24/2/2022) at 19.30 WIB. The reason is because the majority of their players were declared Covid-19.
However, the Vietnam U-23 national team benefits from regulation. According to the rules, all teams are allowed to call 10 additional players outside of the players who have been registered, to replace footballers who have tested positive for Covid-19.
After previously calling six new players last week, Vietnam has now registered four additional names. These names are scheduled to arrive in Cambodia on Thursday (24/2/2022) morning WIB.
If the results of the PCR tests for these four names are negative for Covid-19, the Vietnam squad will automatically increase to 13 names to face Timor Leste. Still according to Soha, the number of Vietnamese players who participated in the match against Timor Leste could potentially increase if the results of the Covid-19 test carried out last night, there were a number of players who recovered.
So far, there is no further information on whether any Vietnamese players have recovered from Covid-19 or not. Many Vietnamese players are absent due to Covid-19 which is an advantage for Timor Leste.
