renovation of the Saint-Bonnet chapel in Montmelas-Saint-Sorlin

The Saint-Bonnet chapel in Montmelas-Saint-Sorlin is at the center of a renovation project carried out by the Heritage Foundation.

The Stéphane-Bern mission launched a call for donations in January 2022 to renovate the Saint-Bonnet chapel in Montmelas-Saint-Sorlin (Rhône). The sum collected, capped at 70,000 euros, will be used to finance work to strengthen the infrastructure. They will be carried out in two phases. The first will focus on the exterior restoration of the bell tower, its interior structure as well as the exterior of the nave and the apse. The second phase will renovate the interior of the building. The objective of the operation is to consolidate, restore and enhance the site.

According to the project of the municipality of Montmelas-Saint-Sorlin, the chapel, once rehabilitated, will be used to host cultural events, exhibitions, concerts and other festivities. Note that the association “Around the Saint-Bonnet chapel” was created to ensure the animation around the restoration and maintenance of the building. It will also be responsible for organizing various activities that should contribute to the historical, heritage, cultural and tourist influence of the site, in accordance with the ambition of the Stéphane-Bern mission.
